Malibu Brown Pelican
Charcoal on Vintage CA Map containing Ventura County & Malibu 20 x 26 in.
The Malibu Brown Pelican is a charcoal directly drawn on vintage maps containing the area in which the animals live. The maps are 20 x 26 in. and framed in a 24 x 30 in. black frame matted and under glass.
Brown pelicans would be extinct in California if not for the 1972 ban on DDT (which caused eggs to softened and crush when the pelicans sat upon them) and the establishment of the Channel Islands National Park in 1980 which protects their rookeries. Learn more about the importance of the Channel Islands National park on their website nps.gov/chis.
