The Space of Summer

The Arts Council of the Conejo Valley invites you to experience the Space of Summer, a vibrant new exhibition celebrating the images and art that bring to life the feeling of summer. On view from August 21st through October 13th, 2026, this showcase brings together eight talented local artists whose works span painting, drawing, and mixed media — each offering a unique perspective on how the space of summer is reflected in their art.

From sweeping California landscapes to bold abstract compositions, intimate botanicals to pastoral visions, The Space of Summer presents a stunning range of styles united by a shared fascination with the visual world. Whether you're a lifelong art lover or discovering the Conejo Valley arts community for the first time, this exhibition offers something to move, inspire, and delight.

The exhibition features original works by Thomas Scott Nelson, Maggie Tata, Connie Tunick, Makarand Desai, Sherry Lawson, Christine Beirne, Barbara Shannon  — a remarkable cross-section of the rich artistic talent flourishing right here in the Conejo Valley.

Artists' Reception

Join us for a festive afternoon celebrating the artists behind the work. The Artists' Reception is a wonderful opportunity to meet the painters, hear their stories, and connect with fellow art enthusiasts in the community. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free and open to the public — all are welcome.
